Faith-Based Counseling
Available Upon Request
Many Christians are hesitant to seek therapy from a therapist who does not share their beliefs, fearing that their faith may not be understood or respected. They worry that a non-Christian therapist may not align with their values, potentially offering advice that conflicts with their religious principles. For these individuals, finding a therapist who respects and incorporates their faith into counseling can be crucial for their comfort.
At In the Stillness Counseling, faith-based therapy will integrate faith with evidenced based practices, but can take on many forms. Some Clients may request that we pray together or reflect on Scripture in therapy. Others simply want the peace of mind that they share a common faith with their therapist, creating a sense of trust and understanding. Still for others, they seek a safe space to express doubts, anger, and grief related to church hurt, while trying to rediscover their spiritual identify and rebuild their faith.
Geneva pursued her undergraduate degree in psychology from Southeastern University and her graduate degree in professional counseling from Liberty University. Both Christian universities emphasize integrating Christianity with psychology, which was a key factor for Geneva in choosing where to study. Additionally, Geneva holds a minor in youth ministry from Southeastern University, further deepening her commitment to faith-based work.
